Primary Care Doctors' Organization Malaysia (PCDOM) would like to welcome you to its Primary Health Care Network Services (PNS) project which consists of two components; the clinic & patient management system and a e-community environment.

Summary Of Project

The Primary Health Care Pilot Project illustrates the commitment to the use of information and communication technology (ICT) by medical practitioners towards a mission of improving the quality of care to patients. This is achieved by improving the capacity and quality of the Primary Care Doctors (GPs) through information sharing via an electronic community of GPs, their clinic staffs and nurses. The efficiency of their work processes will be strengthened through the application of decision support system using evidence-based learning made possible only by adopting current information and communication technology.

The Primary Health Care application and network services (PCDOM PrimaCare & PNS) will involve the entrepreneurial expertise of GPs in IT and their medical knowledge to develop the GP desktop application. Its contents will be developed by the combined effort of the GP community (in Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya) and the collaborative participation and initiatives of the public sector, private sector and teaching institutions emphasizing on research, training and continuing education for self-improvement.

The PrimaCare Community System will also benefit the general public in making available health information realizing the concept of "self-care" in improving personal health. In the 12-month project period, the project will target to acculturate and educate 50 GPs, their clinic staffs and nurses and also to benefit 100 corporations and their employees. Thereafter, the system can be replicated elsewhere to benefit other service sectors and geographic locations.

The use of the web technology while utilizing open source resources will make the project easy to emulate and to interface with other electronic communities who utilize web-based standards and open systems. Emphasis on networking, capacity building of the stakeholders and at the same time engaging the community using community development tools will bring about a healthier community.
