National Vision for Health
In line with the national Vision 2020, we have adopted the national Vision for Health which is "to develop a nation of healthy individuals, families and communities, through a health system that is equitable, affordable, efficient, technologically appropriate, environmentally adaptable and consumer friendly, with emphasis on quality, innovation, health promotion and respect for human dignity, and which promotes individual responsibility and community participation towards an enhanced quality of life".
Our Vision
Primary Care is the foundation of the health care system which delivers quality care according to individual need and which ensures a satisfying vocation for general/family practitioners, as carer and counselor for all Malaysian families.
Our Mission
To promote high standards of care in general/family practice for the benefit of the individual and his family through continuous and comprehensive care that encompasses promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative approaches, whilst ensuring that general/family practice is recognised as the principal source of primary health care and is professionally and economically viable.

- to define, promote, maintain and strengthen the role of the general practitioners and other primary care / family physicians vis-à-vis other practitioners within the country's health care system, to ensure that every Malaysian family has a family / general practitioner as carer and counselor as we move towards 2020.
- to safeguard and represent the interests of the general practitioners and other primary care / family physicians.
- to affiliate on a reciprocal basis with a doctor's co-operative or a doctor's commercial organisation for mutual benefits.
- to liaise with the pharmaceutical and laboratory industries to ensure that the role and interests of the general practitioners and other primary care / family physicians are maintained and enhanced.
- to source and disseminate information on subjects that are important and pertinent to the general practitioners and other primary care / family physicians.
- to liaise with the Academy of Family Physicians and any other academic institutions in the areas of Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Quality Assurance (QA).
- to advise and assist general practitioners and other primary care / family physicians in clinic management.
- to assist general practitioners and other primary care / family physicians to participate in commercial ventures in the health care industry.
Emblem
- The emblem of the Organisation shall be a white oval medallion, in which are placed a blue map of Malaysia, yellow figures depicting a family, a blue serpent entwining a red kris and the motto "Primary Care - The Way to Family Health" engraved in red and white. The name of the Organisation in Bahasa Malaysia and English, "Pertubuhan Doktor Perubatan Utama Malaysia" and "Primary Care Doctors' Organisation Malaysia" shall be engraved in black on a blue border around the upper and lower half of the medallion respectively.
- The figures depicting a family unit with the map of Malaysia in the background and the Organisation Motto below illustrates the importance of the primary care approach via the family to achieve a healthy family resulting in a healthy nation. The serpent entwining the kris illustrates the medical nature of the Organisation, the homogeneity and unity of its members towards a common goal. The map of Malaysia also denotes that the Organisation is a Malaysian Organisation. The number of figures and the colours used have no significance.
